The whole of Vinodol is a wonderful story, rich in history, numerous cultural and historical monuments, natural beauties and traditions. One thing is to experience Vinodol by traveling through it, and the other to look at it from the “bird’s perspective”.
Six locations of belvederes were selected, of which three (3) in Vinodolska municipality:
– above the village Drivenik – belvedere “Mahavica”,
– above the village of Grižane / Tribalj – belvedere “Pridva”,
– above the village of Bribir – belvedere “Slipica”,
and three (3) in the area of Novi Vinodolski:
– above the village of Ledenica – belvedere “Gradina”,
– below the Svibe – belvedere “Sviba”,
– and by Krmpota – belvedere “Kuk”.
When drawing up a design project as well as in the construction of the belvederes, attention was paid to the attractiveness of the belvedere, ie to the special landscape values, with wide views that give the total landscape of the entire space, and are near the road communication (preferably asphalted) easy access by bus or mini bus. When designing and decorating the belvedere, attention was paid to protecting the natural environment, compliance with the existing landscape so as not to disturb the authenticity of the environment. Each visitor has adequate signaling, parking space and a roundabout/turnkey in the immediate vicinity and a number of benches and waste containers.
Description of the Belvederes:
1. Belvedere “Mahavica” – 781 m.a.s.l.(named by the near hill top)
The belvedere is located on the asphalted road Antovo – Plase on the Razromir pass at 781m. The narrow asphalted road contributes to the total landscape of the entire area, elevating itself to the magnificent stone boulders and the sips of the Kozak. Every meter of road along the steep rocky Kozak slopes will not leave us indifferent. In the north there is a stone cone of Medvidjak, west of the magnificent mountain meadows Razromir stoned with stone blocks, in the southwest mountain range of Učka, and the Kvarner bay, perched on the islands of Krk, Cres, Rab and Pag, bordered by the massive Velebit. A southeast stretch extends to the mountain that steeply falls to Vinodol Valley up to Novi Vinodolski. Along the coast, the view goes to Selce.
2. Belvedere “Pridva” – 573 m.a.s.l.(named by the near hill top)
This belvedere is also located along the Antovo-Lič road. It is lower than the previous belvedere, but due to that height difference, the visitor has a look at the surrounding area as well as from the bird’s perspective. In the north there is a stone coniferous top of Medvidjak, west of the beautiful mountain meadows Razromir streaked with stone blocks, in the southwest mountain Ucka, and the Kvarner bay, dappled by the islands of Krk, Cres, Rab and Pag, bordered by the massive Velebit. A southeastern stretch stretches over the mountain that steeply falls to Vinodol Valley up to Novi Vinodolski. Along the coast, the view goes to Selce.
3. Belvedere “Slipica” 446 m.a.s.l.
This belvedere is located on the fifth kilometer of the road Bribir – Lukovo – Lič above Bribir on the steep cliff. From the viewpoint there is a wonderful view of Velebit, Velebit Channel, Kvarner Islands, Učka, Novi Vinodolski and Vinodol Valley to Grizane.
4. Belvedere “Gradina” 379 m.a.s.l.
Belvedere is located on the road Novi Vinodolski – Ledenice just above the village of Ledenica with a beautiful view of the Ledeničko polje, Novi Vinodolski, Klenovica, Velebit and the Kvarner islands…
5. Belvedere “Sviba” 753 m.a.s.l(named by the near hill top)
To the right of the road Novi Vinodolski – Breze from the beautiful mountain meadows of Pleteno and enjoying unobstructed views of the whole surrounding area on the road near the Luka Krmpotsae there is a belvedere “Sviba”. The whole road represents a sight-seeing. The belvedere itself is located under the grassy slopes of Mala and Velika Sviba on the beautiful mountain meadows with unmatched attractive views all over: mountain hinterland, offshore villages, Kvarner Bay, Velebit and Učka.
6. Belvedere “Kuk” 301 m.a.s.l.(named by the near hill top)
Immediately from the coastal side at the entrance to Krmpotsko polje in Krmpote there is a belvedere “Kuk”, with an interesting view of the entire Novi Vinodolski riviera (Smokvica, Klenovica, Povile and Novi Vinodolski), Kvarner bay and islands, Velebit, Učka and a side view of Vinodol Valley.
